“The annual Great Backyard Bird Count is being held from Friday Feb 12th through Monday Feb 15th. Everyone can count birds in their yard, their neighborhood, or any area they frequently visit, on any or all of the 4 days, then submit their counts to be used by scientists to study bird distributions, populations, and other facets of bird life. There is no fee, but participants must create a GBBC online account to report their observations, or report them via their eBird account.
Visit http://gbbc.birdcount.org/get-started/ for more information.
Some organized GBBC counts will be also held at nature centers, parks, and other locations. For example, there will be a program and count held at Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge headquarters on Sunday Feb 14 from 11 am to 3 pm. Enjoy counting birds at the refuge feeders while comfortably inside the HQ, or join a walk at the refuge (weather permitting). Please consider contributing your time to help the future of birds by becoming a part of this valuable Citizen Science Project and counting some birds!”
